My Weighted Blanket Experience – Too Good To Be True?

Almost everyone has heard about that new craze surrounding weighted blankets and their supposedly amazing health benefits.

They have been talked about on the news, social media sites and countless blogs have popped up with people sharing their personal experiences. If you have not yet heard about this growing trend, or simply would like to know more you have come to the right place. Here are the things that you need to know.

How Did I Choose My Weighted Blanket?

First thing I personally ran into was the fact that there are many different options when it comes to purchasing one. You can choose from a variety of sizes, weights and even the materials that are used to form this blanket. I chose to find a product that fits within my budget as my primary goal. However, if you wish to do more research you can find information about how different materials may be able to affect your sleep here.

Choosing The Right Size and Weight is crucial!

I also chose to use the standard guidelines I found online regarding the weight I should choose. For me, this was 15 pounds due to the fact that I weigh over 100 pounds and under 150. I also purchased a blanket that would cover my entire bed, as I tend to toss and turn at night and didn’t want to worry about readjusting my blanket. I sorta regret my choice as the 15 pounds feel a bit lighter and some people tend to disagree with the whole 10-15% of your body weight.

It is an ongoing debate but if you ask me, you should choose what feels right. I had the chance to try a friend’s 30lbs blanket and it actually felt better than mine – I am definitely considering one for my next purchase for sure.

I went for The Napper. It was a touch choice so let’s see how did it go over.

Once I received it in the mail I was starting to worry that I did spend a lot of money for no good reason. I battle with sleep issues, so at first I thought it was worth trying no matter the cost. Once it was time to give it a trial run I was nervous that I would not be happy with it, and then got nervous that would keep me from getting a good night of sleep as well.

So How Did It Go And Did The Weighted Blanket Help me Sleep Better?

Now we get to where I got into bed for the night. I had it sprawled across my bed, just as I would with my normal comforted. After I climbed into bed and covered myself (it is recommended you cover yourself from head to toe for the best benefits) I noticed a different immediately. It was much like receiving a hug. I felt a sense of being comforted and secure.

I also have to say that it definitely helped me to fall asleep much faster than I usually do. In fact, many nights it can take a half hour or longer, but it probably only took a few minutes the first night I tried it. Also, while I can’t say for certain as I didn’t record myself sleeping, I do feel it reduced the amount I tossed and turned through the night. I actually woke up in relatively the same space and position as I fell asleep.

I couldn’t be happier with my choice!!!

The next morning I felt particularly refreshed, but reminded myself that one night didn’t prove very much. However, after using it for over a month I feel that it definitely is making a significant impact on my quality of sleep. It may not work for everyone, but if you struggle with getting quality sleep it definitely is worth giving a try.

I was a non-believer for a while but a month later I can definitely feel the difference. I sleep better, I’m much calmer at work and it seems that I can focus better. Overall, the best two hundred I’ve ever spent on a sleep product!
